Team-Mate Unrest Within Marussia

After the Hungarian Grand Prix, reports began to emerge of a possible feud building up between the Marussia duo of Timo Glock and Charles Pic. This came after the French rookie out-raced his more experienced team-mate for the second race in succession, as Timo Glock fell into the clutches of HRT’s Pedro de la Rosa for a second weekend.

A report published by Germany’s SID news agency has stated that the two Marussia drivers are currently not getting along well, with Timo Glock adamant that his rookie team-mate has blocked him during qualifying on more than one occasion. However, the German veteran has endured a frustrating run of races, and has voiced his vexation by stating his dislike for how the car handles.

Whilst Timo Glock has stated that his Marussia MR-01 is “undriveable”, team-mate Charles Pic is enjoying his time within the car. This has been evident at the last two Grands Prix in Germany and Hungary, where Pic has both out-raced and out-qualified his much experienced German team-mate.

However, after qualifying in Germany Timo Glock was reportedly highly irritated that the Frenchman had held him up during the session. “Maybe he doesn’t understand the English on the radio,” Glock was quoted as saying to reporters after his highly frustrating weekend continued around the Hungaroring.

With Timo Glock unquestionably being regarded as Marussia’s No.1 driver (even when the team was formerly known as Virgin Racing), it seems his dominance within the Banbury-based team could be challenged by the new rising star that is Charles Pic. With Marussia reportedly undecided on who will team-mate Glock next season, the 22-year-old Frenchman needs to continue his dominant style within the team.
